Love in the Kitchen

Art by Sarah L. Yoon

Each of these pieces is a love letter to my Korean-American kitchen. The mess of dirty bowls and counters is so so worth it, because food brings everyone together. Each image takes on two lives: first come the finished lines, then the finished watercolor paintings. The pieces without color are the coloring page version of my art.

And now for something completely different…

I pulled this stylish carrot from my garden and needed to paint her. She was described as “gross” by a grown man who could not handle the charisma. She lived in our crisper until consumed.
